WHEN YOU REMEMBER THIS NEWS FROM EARLY THIS MONTH:
EXXON MOBIL scores big on war ChevronTexaco Profit Soars
ChevronTexaco Corp. CVX.N , the No. 2 U.S. oil company, on Friday said its quarterly profit quadrupled as refining and marketing margins improved and gas and oil prices rose closing the performance gap with more highly valued rivals Exxon Mobil Corp.
AND THEN YOU READ THIS ON YOUR WAY TO BUY GAS
Holiday Drivers to Pay Record Pump Prices NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. motorists will pay record gasoline prices when they hit the roads for the Labor Day holiday weekend after a recent spike at the pumps, industry and government experts said on Monday. "We're not expecting any drop-off in prices heading into the Labor Day holiday," said Justin McNaull, spokesman for the AAA.
The national price for regular unleaded gasoline averaged $1.747 a gallon Monday -- breaking a record hit just before the Iraq war -- after spiking 12.0 cents in a week, the U.S. government said. U.S. average retail gasoline prices surged due to a crunch in supplies after the massive blackout Aug. 14 forced shut seven North American refineries and a pipeline break in Arizona cut fuel shipments into Phoenix.
DOESN'T IT MAKE YOU ANGRY?
This Bushit is so beyond belief I can't imagine why angry Americans are not clammoring for blood. A deregulation caused blackout of 24 hours has caused oil companies to improve on already record profits. I am so happy for them when I give them more money at the pump. I hope you feel good for them too.
BUT THEN READ THIS AND REMEMBER WHO ENERGY TRULY IS:
GAO Investigators: Cheney Stifled Energy Probe Monday, August 25, 2003; 5:30 PM Congressional investigators said Monday that Vice President Dick Cheney had stymied their investigation into his energy task force by refusing to turn over key documents. The General Accounting Office, the investigative arm of Congress, said it was impossible to tell how much energy companies or industry groups may have influenced the task force's 2001 report because the administration withheld important records.
